what is a node

Here is an illustration based on my understanding, what is a node.

First Drupal Lesson; what is a node?

A node is the most basic understanding that i need to know as along my learning of Drupal i will definitely come across nodes endlessly. thus, it's important for me to make a note on the definition of a node.

A node is defined as a piece of content that is being published on a Drupal framework or site. It can be in a form of stories, page, video, images, polls, forum, blog, book etc. In any single content, node ties several info together such as title, body that have the actual content, date of creation, the author and comments that can be turned on/off. Stories, page, videos, blog, books, etc are the types of nodes. 2 types of node have already been preinstalled when you first download & run Drupal site; they are page & story.

I think if i were to compare with my experience on Wordpress, story & page in Drupal is similiar to page and ... ahh i have forgotten the other one, but what i know is one is the static page and the other one is where user can add comments.

Evaluation of performance for year 2011

Everybody was slightly anxious and sort of wondering what would be their results based on the rating given by respective bosses and superiors. Well, this is the time when performance of each individual is rated and determined for the purpose of knowing how much effort that particular staff contributed to the company after which a sum of rewards in the form of money will be given to that individual based of their last year work performance. A fact here is, based on my experience of working for such company shit like this, performance as defined here is rather ambiguous and solely dependent on bosses or management interpretations. For lower level of employees, it could mean as their success level of delivering what has assigned to them in the entire yesteryear, but for management, i suspect it could be a mixed of definition; well it could be either performed according to their personal thinking or perfectly following what the actual guideline says. Bu mostly i very believe that anybody who fulfill bosses' criteria will end up either out performed, above average or worst safe enough. Then for those who are not in the wished criteria of the bosses, they may fall into just average despite how much effort they have benefitted to the company or worst become the kambing hitam.

Anyway, for my case, i seriously believe that my result rating would just be average as usual results like before. I'm just nobody in the shit cooperate hierachy!

Leap Year

That was a movie title that has just been shown tonite. BTW, today is the 29th of feb and today's date only happens once in every four years. I'm touched by the speech the girl said at the end of the story.
It sounds like this, though not perfectly uttered.
"In my last 60 secs, i realise that i have everything. But sadly, all the things that i have are the ones that i want but none of which i really needed...".

There are so many times in our live that we never really think that those in our possession or maybe will be in our possession are truly needed by us, because most of the time we acquire them is just for the sake of we wanting it.

Mmmm.. does it make any sense?

Basic Drupal code for beginners

I bumped into a drupal developer reference homepage and i think its basic explanation on how to write drupal simple code is intuitive. The basic things what the author presents here is, create your own so-called 'plugins' that actually do nothing. The plugin or aka module in Drupal can be seen in the admin panel.

Skills required for drupal

i draw some simple building blocks for me to refer to in the future as well as a basic framework that i can depend on during my learning of Drupal.

Until now, i can access drupal info from 2 key entrance which are:

eBook on Drupal or Actual Physical book at MPH

I'm still contemplating on either i should purchase an online eBook on Drupal development or just drop by at any book store like MPH or Popular and buy it over there. Since i could not able to find any piece of downloaded doc on Drupal from my Usenext, those are the only options i have at present; buy online a new one or buy a book at any book store.

Well for the time being, as a temporary solution, i wanna explore studying the Drupal language based on documentation online at Drupal.org. It looks quite comprehensive, perhaps this could be a good reference for me before i actually buy a new one, say if i drop by at MPH.

I can access the info from Drupal.org from either the main page -> http://drupal.org/documentation or through its API site -> http://api.drupal.org/api/drupal. Both looks promising enough for me. I guess for the whole coming March, my target would be more on understanding the overall Drupal before i truly decide to buy the book.

Facebook Developers

I bumped into develepors area of facebook.com. I think this is one of the areas that i should keep in mind. great Opportunity for deveoping my skills in there and definitely for future business opportunity.

No Drupal ebooks in any usenext directories

It's unfortunate. i could never find any of Drupal ebooks from my UseNext downloads. I spent the whole morning trying to find it at home scrutinising all directories. At the end after such effort i lost myself in the temptation. Then i ponteng again the day didn't go to work. Anyway who gives a shit. I bet no one notice of my absence except jaz. by the way i've checked there is no meeting what so ever today which reinforces my excuse to ponteng.

Perhaps i need to reactivate my Usenext account but with smaller download space capcity, just to download any usenext related docs.

Crash course of Drupal

One hour of my stay at the office before my returning was filled with studying Drupal. I went through Drupal.org and got into the Documentation link. Personally i think as oppose to Wordpress, Drupal has a lot more concepts that i need to understand and it's definitely not a straight forward codes. Honestly speaking, just relying on Drupal.org documentation alone would be such a pain-in-the-ass experience to master Drupal language; i seriously need a book to refer to.

There were this whole concepts of nodes, modules, tokens, etc which i must not skipped in order for me to thoroughly understand and be able to create my own customisable module. In short, it's rather scary for me to start from scratch like this.

Perhaps i need to go through all my Usenext directories; i think i have downloaded some ebooks wrt Drupal.

Comparison between Wordpress, Joomla and Drupal

it came across my mind that i should have a glance on the differences and strengths of the most notable CMS on the net. it come up with 3 most favourite CMS; Wordpress, Drupal and Joomla. I'm a little bit confused when weighing which one is the most suitable for me. I do have experience on Wordpress and it's not just as a normal level of user but as a developer that write my own plugins script and in fact integrate my own codes with that of Wordpress core level coding. But this does not limit my imagination and desire to explore other available CMS platform such as Drupal or Joomla. I do understand that Drupal is more favoured by expert programmers but i do not want that as my only selection because of my passion on programming. The key area that i must take into account is the market out there which may require my products. It won't make any sense if i were to produce products using the most powerful CMS platform say Drupal but there is no one that can use it. It looks here that Wordpress covers a lot more market as compared to the others and the level of expertise of Wordpress out there is considerably at immediate & beginner levels.

unlike Wordpress, Drupal is not just solely for online community base CMS, it can be tailored to any application on the net; which i agree that this could be the best tool for me to develop any application online. Another key downfall of Wordpress is all plugins and themes are dependent on the Wordpress version where as Drupal is very minimally dependent. Mmmmm....

Rest for a day

I do still feel that my tiredness and exhaustion because of my running on last weekend haven't worn off. That's the key reason why i purposely do not bring along my gear for my routine workout at FF. Let today be the resting day and tomorrow hopefully i'll be doing my routine exercise again.

A tiring last day of weekend

The last day of my weekend started off with my 12.7km run early in the morning. I thought i would do it the nite before, however because i was alone i wasn't feel that enthuasistic to run alone. Moreover it was a little bit drizzling or maybe just stopped raining. I arrived at Putrajaya mosque compound somewhre around 7:30am and there were many cars parked already, all of them were equipped with bicycles or some bicycle-handler were tied up at the car bonnet. I thought all of them were health & exercise concious, in contrary there was a kind of bicycle race going on at Putrajaya.

The run was exhausting, and unlike my usual run at nite with syg, i had this huge bulking desire just to stop for a while in the middle of the run. Luckily i didn't, at least this would be a unforgettable experience for any of my future runnning. By the time i finished off my run, it was already 9am and the sun was unbearably hot. I managed to burn 970kcal within 1hr03min. And there was no one already at the compound area in font of the mosque could of the heat. After half an hour cooling down, i drove off back to home. On the way back, i stopped by at the pasar borong to buy few groceries left; sotong, budu and selar kuning.

Despite of my tiredness from the long run, i straight away washed up the wet groceries and prepared for the dishes. In fact unexpectedly i have cooked 2 different dishes, one was sayur puteh lemak and sup tulang lembu. Initially i though i would want to have a nice lunch with ulam and budu, but because of my over supply dishes i postpone of having budu hopefully in my next meal. Everything finished at 10 to 2pm, and i was unbearably hungry. i washed off, prayed zohor thinking it owuld be just appropriate if i can doze off once i finish my lunch. and it was true i did sleep.

Now it is already night and my favourite movie Harry Potter, The Deathly Hollow is on HBO.

Fresh salmon for my meal

i found a good fresh of salmon part at pasar borong and the best part of all was it was reasonable affordable and if i were to compare with those sold at common hyper markets, it would be considered as cheap, almost half the price per kilo. You know how much did the salmon cost? it's RM27 per kilo and i bought 3 thick slices of fresh salmon that cost me in total of RM13.50. I think if that same chuck and weight of salmon sold at Jusco, i would be paying easily freaking RM20++.

Today's lunch would be definitely fried salmon with black pepper grains soaked with lemon juice.

Early morning run on Saturday

I woke up early and preparing myself for a good early morning run. It was close to 8am and i have all my gears ready, the day was going to be sunny. I didn't want to start off late because by the end when i finish off my run, it would be hot already.

It was half an hour non-stop jogging, it reached my apartment at 8:30am and i still have ample time to cool down before 9am. i burned 410kcal with an average heart rate of 157, 86% from my max heart rate.

today looks like it would be such a good starting weekend, i finished off my workout early, completed few rounds of washing my laundry and last activity would be getting my wet kitchen stuff at pasar borong. Mmmm i was thinking for a good slice big chuck of fresh salmon.

I wonder whether i still can make it for a good 12km run tonite at Putrajaya.

Craddle funding option

I come across an interesting funding option from my reading of online Utusan Melayu. It states that there is one company named Craddle Sdn Bhd under the supervision of Finance Ministry that provides fund to those entreprenuers from various field including IT, internet-based and content development areas. This could be one of probable funding sources that I may try in the future once the internet business is ready. There is no harm trying.

i memorised the looks of my front view of my bike during my riding it and sketched it. Wonder whether it is the same as the actual one.

online newspaper

it just came across my mind that i should read more news, so i thought it would be nice if i were able to read the news no matter where i am despite i don't need to physically buy the newspaper. Due to the advancement of internet, i thought subscribing to tmnet ebrowse online newpaper would be wise. So i make my mind i bought the service as a trial for a month duration. Just to try whether it could be a daily habit for me, if it works than i might continue for more months to come, or even taking other different newspaper like metro or berita harian or star. It cost me not much, just RM20 per month for a single newspaper. the one that i started off today was Utusan Malaysia.

Let's us whether i can make it until the 30th day from today. the last date of dubscription would be 23rd march.

3rd strange happening

This was my 3rd strange happening. The 1st one was my plate broke into 2 when i was still holding it and all the content including my smoky tasty salmon fell down on the shitty kitchen floor. That was 2 days ago. The 2nd was yesterday, when was explaining to Jaz, my staff on work stuff, my left eye lid kept on treambling uncontrobly. The 3rd happened today, out of nowhere and it happened in such a sudden, my driver window car that has failed to work to close 2 years since i was in hillpark, now nicely has been able to open up and close down without any difficulty at all. I didn't intend to open my window but my finger accidentally pressed the button, the glass window just scroll down so easily. It's like it has never had any motor mechanical problem at all. Thank you god! it does save RM350 cost of fixing it by replacing it with a new spare part.

Another session of kimo procedure

My girl fren performed here usual kimo procedure today. I think it is the second time in her requirement to perform 2 kimos in a month. The usual kimos were done usually once in a month, but since her treatment is close to an end, her doctor recommended here to go through twice kimo monthly with higher dose of medicine injected into her body. her procedure would start early morning around 8am and completed at 6pm. I was called by her this evening when she just finished off the whole procedure and i learned that she had passed out for 1 hour due to overpowering close-to-death-experience plus her non-stop battle of continuous vomiting. Pity her.

I never stop praying for her recovery since the day she was told by her friend doctor that she has a brain tumor and aneurysm.

Haha today i ponteng

I didn't intentionally plan to ponteng or even take leave today, but something happens today. My mom came here together with my brother & his family to stay at my eldest brother's home at bkt mahkota & going off for umrah, so i as one of my mum's son staying in KL must accompany her without fail for her umrah. Failing which would be considered like anak-tak-kenal-budi or close to derhaka, so because of that noble & pious plan, i skipped my work in the morning. As plan that was the real idea, i only absent from my work in the morhing and i would present in the evening. however, when i have sent them at KLIA, and also sent JA & his family at Tune hotel and rushed off back to home because i need to change attire for office, the day was so soooo hot and it was already 3:30 by the time i arrived home. i was already tired and so i doze off.... that's when i arealized that ponteng work is like the only option left in my mind.

In short i just woke up now and it's already 6:30pm. HAhaha aku ponteng keje!!

strange thing happened last night

That was one of the weirdest thing that ever happened to me. It happened when i have completed cooking for my dinner and my hand was holding a plate full of rice with fully cooked salmon. I had just putting the chicken curry with its gravy on my plate and then suddenly my plate which i was still holding firm just broke into half. The other half fell down together with my delicious untouchable salmon on the kitchen floor and then further broken into small pieces. I was like so mesmerised and at the same time shocked. My plate just broke into two. I was just frozen for couple of seconds, don't know what to do. I have this mixed feeling wanting desperately to curse and half dumb. It was so frustrating to see my delicious big chuck salmon on the floor and yess it was still hot.

As i slowly regained my half consciousness i cleaned the mess up and start cooking all over again. Cook my rice, took out another portion of frozen salmon from the fridge and fried it up. in all, it took more additional close to an hour before i was able to enjoy my late dinner at 12:30am.

Totally weirdest experience i have ever gone through...

Memang Babi Bangsat punya kess

This is how i call as babi bangsat nih!! they can make an exception for other people's project where as for mine, i still have to follow bangsat redtape hierachical levels of reporting despite it was actual from-a-scratch piece of idea that i managed to make it so fully established. i started to learn here that there is also a manager-level person that can lead a big LOB-level initiative. I have to develop from totally a scratchy ideas to a fully established concept paper that is workable on my own and of course with a clerical assistance from my staff plus totally theoritical ideas from all those bastards higher higher level superiors. And you what when my full blown proposal with how-to-implement plans has been accepted, my presence was totally outcasted. i was merely treated as balaci balaci non-important figure. Previously i thought only AGMs can hold the leading PM, but until yesterday when i learned that one of those kaki jilat sales person has been appointed as the team leader, it truly proved that there is no justice in this shit division.

Now they still want to make use of my strength to do something hard again. Mother fucking TNOP shit!!

Finally receiving my 'The Best of David Foster'

I got up late at my office, but to my suprise there is a book that i've been waiting quite sometime since my online purchase. It is 'The Best of David Foster'. The book is in great condition and in fact it looks new. I bought the book at ebay with the price USD14.37 plus the delivery charge of USD25+ the total price in Malaysia is around RM110. The delivery was quite acceptable because if i were to compare with my last purchase on ebay also, it took me almost 2 months to arrive, where as this one was less than a month. i bought the book on 26-jan-2012 and roughly the delivery time is approx 3 weeks.

The first thing i did when flipped through the book was, go to St Elmo's Fire notes. Honestly speaking the note is more challenging as compared to the one that i current have (someone gave to me for free).

A mental note on my music class homework

There'll be my piano class today as usual at 8:30pm and i need to show my complete homework. It's kind of my habit that whenver i attend the class, my homework is done. I've experience before that i didn't complete my homework & i realise that ms yap make use of her time asking me to complete the work there and then. Obviously, it was such a waste of time because a precious half an hour time can be maximised for me to learn hands-on piano lessons.

So make sure i do npt forget to bring along the homework past year question to the office.

Nothing progressive about seringgit.com development

Today was truly un productive for seringgit.com. Although i am able to connect to seringit.com cpanel admin interface, the time is not at my side. The morning session at my office is full of meeting with other people where as i spent unexpected long enough at office pantry completing my cooking for lunch, and all of us at my office had to attend meeting with the Transformer. It's a total waste of time.

12km nite run and early morning of uphill run

The last weekends were fulfilled with my active running sessions, one on Saturday at nite at Putrajaya and the next day at my apartment area running early morning around uphills. The night at Putrajaya was quite fun because my girlfriend and i had managed to complete a 12.7km run. it was a go and forth way starting from the Putrajya mosque to the end of the road at a ministry building i don't really remember the name of it; i think it is something about penerangan, communication and kebudayaan and there is a round-about in front of it. the first half of the run was 6+ km up to the round-about and return to the mosque again totalling 12.7km. We did measure our kcal burn and it was approx 1000 kcal. I would never able to achieve the same kcal burn if i were to just rely on my weekly workouts at FF. Thus it is definitely a good way to maintaining my fitness level besides FF.

The next at my place was as tough as my 12.7km run at Putrajaya because we need to go uphill and downhill track. It was a tiring activities for both of us but truly fulfilling.

New Ideas for one ringgit worth product

I come across a website today that promotes cute small icons that can be used for web-design which has triggered me some ideas on how i can make money based on one ringgit worth product. I think this is business-wise viable. What i can do now is to produce as many as possible on small icons and bundle them up in say 100 images per package and then sell it online with a charge one ringgit. I can make few flavours of packages with different theme. If say the potential purchaser feel it is too cheap to transfer only one ringgit, what i can do is to bundle 2-3 packages and price them up for RM10. Then it would worth the effort of transferring online.

The principle behind this is a single package that cost one ringgit can be bundled up with other few packages so that the targeted end price that i can charge is higher(eg RM10).

That's the first plan for now.

300kcal burn for a day

Yesterday during my short lunch time, i rushed off to FF to perform my weekly routine which is burning at least 300 kcal per session. In overall, i think it is a good workout. I manged to burn 300+ kcal during my running on the treadmill and few kcals on weight lifting. And that took me around 1hour duration to complete; half an hour running and the rest on weight lifting. in all, my time taken for my workout including my motorbike journey go-and-forth is 2 hours. I usually able to come back to office around 3pm, suffiicient enough to attend a meeting with less-than-half-an-hour late presence. it won't be such an obvious late because meetings would normally start off half an hour late - malaysian time.

Today when I checked my email, i received few notifications from the jomhosting admin with regards to my domain transfer. I would say that their service is top notch! Yesterday i made my application to transfer and now i've already received the authentication details of my new hosting plus the valid ip address assigned to seringgit.com. When i checked the ip address domain whether it is accessible or not, my attempt is successful. Good job jomhosting, saluuutteeee from me! Despite the ip address is on the net now, the domain itself is still referring to KLhost site; well it still requires the total propagation of the ip address and the domain. What the best thing that i really admire with jomhosting is its really cheap price of domain & hosting that i need to be burdened with, which is only RM75 annually as oppose to my existing cost to Klhost.com of RM300/yr. That's a really a thumb up!

I've successfully made payment to purchase seringgit.com hosting & domain to jomhosting.com provider a few minutes ago. Now the purchasing part is over, it is time for me to go for the best part - indulging into the real programming, which means i need to go through again page by page on wordpress plugins documentation and must understand the entire script to produce wordpress plugins. Anyway, as i have long ago left wordpress, i need to go from the basics.

This should be fun!

Updating basic and title of my blog

Babi betul laa!! i've spent almost half an hour and my attempts was just a total vain. I dunno what is the mistakes but what ever i have typed down was just wasting time. The title blog is still the same and the worst part is the description of the blog return to empty.

it looks like i am still able to make backup of all my seringgit.com site content currently hosted at KLhost.com. this morning just out of curiosity, i open up my smartftp application and try to connect using existing seringgit.com ip address and walla! it is now connected thru ftp session and i can browse through all my files. the ip address i'm using is 202.71.102.177 and thank god the klhost administrator has not turned it off.

Now it's time to do fast back up session to my humble notebook.

Seeing all those directories showing the names of my previous little projects that took place years back instantaneously triggers me the memories when me crazing myself into programming world. That's fun!

I think i wanna make seringgit.com as my blog platform. it showcase my own experiences or the best techniques or even my own learning experience to provide wordpress plugins. i hope by promoting this info online, some programming freaks like me will follow up the blog.

Once i have ample followers, than i need to think of how to make use the real meaning of seringgit in the website. Literally how to charge people base on one ringgit worth product.

plan for today

Today i will check for the price comparison among available hosting & domain svc provider emphasising on jomhosting.net & internet-webhosting.com as they are the cheapest provider on the market. Jomhosting looks tempting as they provide free lifetime domain together with a reasonably ample space of hosting & mysql database well for the iwhosting, i need to check first. Klhost is a goner as most of their packages are expensive and morever they have not changed any prices since they first in operation, maybe more than 10 years ago, since i first subscribe with him.

the tricky part here is seringgit.com domain is still unavailable for purchase because KLhost is still blocking the domain for any purchase. Thus, I need to consider the transfer option; wonder whether that can be done since seringgit.com has already expired.

iwhosting as well as jomhosting offer the same price for the 1st year of subscription but jomhosting has offered more attractive packages if we were to adopt more than 1 year subscription, where as iwhosting is all flat no matter what term contract you take.

btw, jomhosting is a malay-owned-company which i truly in line with. Despite a cheaper price packages by jomhosting, their .my domain is as almost lousy and unattractive as klhost - RM110 per year. That's a goner for jomhosting!

Perhaps another thing to check today is about the payment gateway solution. The one that i have in mind are iPay88 and Netbuilder. The last communication i have with the sales representative from netbuilder was that their price is flat RM2k which i think is the lowest btw all.

shutting down seringgit.com

The first time ever seringgit.com website outage occurs after more than ten years in operation. Truly speaking, i don't intend to permanently shutting down my seringgit.com, but it is just a temporary as i want to change the hosting to a new cheaper provider. As of now, i still haven't made my mind yet which company should i go to; however there are 2 companies that i have experienced with so far and considerably i think they are okay. One is jomhosting.net and the other one is internet-webhosting SKSA. I need to make up my mind fast enough before KLhost unblock any reservation on the seringgit.com domain. The reason why i want to switch to another provider is because the charge from the current provider namely KLhost is rather pricey and moreover the site does not generate any profit to me.

One problem about using seringgit.com name as the branding or marketing tool is that, its name itself indicates something cheap and worth a one ringgit value product despite its easy-to-remember name. So, it would be a little bit tricky to use seringgit.com to promote any product that i currently have in my mind. Its hard because there is no product that worth only a ringgit and more importantly what profit shall i earn if my business model is solely rely on one ringgit earning?

More thorough research needs to be undertaken if i were to use seringgit.com. Until now, i am only planning to reserve the domain before someone else takes it.

Re-starting my long lost passion

Perhaps this is a convenient time for me to re-initiate my passion. I have only 2 things in my life that i am proud of; first is my skill in web-programming and the second one is my artworks. anyway after living long enough until now, it looks like i'm just one of those losers that i have succeeded in wasting the god-given-only-skills. This is perhaps because i'm allowing myself to attend to useless office-work-related activities, which in the end makes no difference to my overall career development. Enough of those thoughts, lets focus on something very benefiting me in a long-run, where i intend to make my passion as my source of passive income.

I think as a start, lets start off with my web-programming. I've been living in my dreams since i was young that i am able to make something financially good to me from my knowledge & passion in web-programming. The last project i have done was on internet marketing website where at the end i don't really see any improvement at all. maybe it was the fact that i solely depended on MLM-based product and none of which belongs to me. So this time i want to create my own product and wish it won't be same as before. It would be my own product + my web marketing tool and most importantly my own revenue-generating system. I think I will start off my small project this month Feb 2012. meanwhile while waiting for me to be ready with the knowledge, lets go through again on the wordpress plugins knowlegde.
