1st successful swimming

Today was my 1st swim that i managed to take breath without holding on to the swimming board. Although it was not perfect, i was sure happy like hell. This is one of my wishes for this year, and after practicing for almost half a year, i finally able to swim freestyle; of course still with the aid of feet paddler. Despite the fact that it is still far from a perfect swimming technique & without using any swimming aid, i felt that it was truly a big progress for me.

Thanx to my gf for her help in teaching me and giving few tips during my entire practise.

Standard chartered marathon postponed

It wad a kinda a blessing in disguise when standard chartered marathon event was postpone to end september. It was due to poor whether condition caused by haze covering most cities at western coast. Actually i was not ready for any long run. My last training of 11km showed my timing wasn't impressive. I event doubt that i could finish below 3 hrs.

Having additional 3 more months before the race hopefully gives me ample time to be ready. Well, that's including ramadhan. I'm not really sure how to go about during fasting month. The most i can do based on past experience was 5 km.

Aah layan je.

Swimming at putrajaya

I went off for a swimming practise at putrajya public pool on saturday night. That was after a long break. The pool was not that full, resonably because it was the same time when the final football match between kelantan & jdt. Although i was not a die hard fan of a footballer, Kelantan won 1 nill, yeay!

I guess my technique wasn't that much improve or maybe didn't improve at all. I still cannot swim without the aid of my buoy and paddlers. My gf commented that i cannot surface out my face from the water mainly because my feet didn't kick hard enough. I tried not to use the board, and even with the help of paddlers, i still failed to raise up my face which in the end, i gulped in water durong breathing attempts.

Looks like it wont be that close to swimming at all this year :-(

Swimming lesson dying

the last time i went for swimming was at putrajaya, and i think it was about amonth ago which was on the same day that i'd my paragliding lesson. Perhaps, it's almost a month. I wad still struggling to turn my face perfectly so i should be able to catch my breathe while paddling. The fact that i need to use the feet paddler and swimming buoy quite worry me and abviously annoying. It shows that i'm a slow learner. Well, perhaps thats is the real thing that bugs my mind and psychollogically turns me down.

Mmmm, needs to say no for a failure even if i need to go through years of practicing.

Swimming lesson continued

Faridil had texted me on the night before saying that the whether condition farecast was not good. The wind speed has increased to more than 20km/h so this could mean hazardous during learning lesson, it could be i could not learn anything or i could injure myself while putting up the wing in high speed wind condition. So, he suggested that the class is canceled and postponed it to the following weekend. Well, i guest it was a blessing in disguise cause i started to feel i was not in good shape of doing something extreme to my body. So as to replace the vacant schedule, i go on with something more subtle. i went for a swimm at bukit jalil aquatic stadium with my gf. It's time to brush up my free-style swimming lesson. We went off for the last shift which was from 6:30pm to 9pm, although we arrived a little bit late. My gf become my current unofficial swimming instructor with zero fee lessons, cause i have no plan until now to go on with a paid real instructor. so, i showed my swimming technique to her and i think i had some few tips to improve my swimming. Currently, i have a problem of catching my breath while hand paddling. According to my gf, it was due to my poor kicking which resulted in my body not able to surface up. Well, i guess those of the new things that i shall occupy my swimming time in this coming weekss. Push and kick harder so that face will emerge from the water surface!

1st paragliding lesson

i went for my 1st paragliding lesson on last friday, 31st may. I never thought that it would be that difficult because from my past learning & researching over the internet especially via youtube on kiting lesson, it looks pretty easy. anyway my advice is don't judge the book by its cover! My personal experience was, it was damned difficult. Faridil, a young guy with a-kind-of skinny built-up being my instructor and teacher for my paragliding lesson had given me a prototype glider for me to start off. He referred it as 'kuda liar' and frankly speaking after my first few attempts to take it off from the ground, i had to admit that glider is very very 'liar'! i have been dragged, pushed and turned around on the bare ground when i was trying to fly off the glider. It was truly a painful experience but i slowly picked up lessons.

My 1st day of lesson was undeniably a painful one. Most of my attempts failed and only at the end of the day, i was able to put the wing up for 1 to 2 seconds over my head before it crashed down. To be honest, after my 1st-day-lesson was over, i have big hesitation whether my successful attempts to fly off the wing was truly because i did understand the concept of flying off the wing or it was just a mere luck. I returned home with a little dissatisfaction on myself and with tensed muscle, blotted stomach and a little migrain. Faridil kept on reassuring me that the current whether condition with aggressive wind speed at the learning field was the reason i suffered the pain of learning. 'Kuda liar' has done its job very well to put me into sufferings, i was kinda phobia after that.

Anyway, the 2nd day was sometwhat very progressive. Despite the fact that the wind condition did not come to our advantage, in fact it was poorer that a day before, i was able to fly off the wing with many attempts. I could also experience stabilising the wing over my head and able to apply most of Faridil's instruction. The 2nd day was not a good day for learning to fly off the wing, especially a beginner like me. The wind was consistently blowing at roughly high speed of 15km/h. We arrive at 11am and could not start off my lesson until 4pm. That was the time when we had to wait under the tree shade for almost 5 hours doing nothing useful. Our long so-called time-wasting waiting was paid off, i could able to steer up the glider on top of me with little problems and i did learn something new during the short 2-hour-training session.

Now, i couldn't wait to go on learning other new lessons on paragliding. As of now, my lesson on ground handling was not over, i still need to learn forward takeoff, turning my body from reversed takeoff and some other things. I hope i can have enough confidence to fly off next weekend.
